| HS645MG vs. HS5645MG I had read everywhere that I needed hitec 645 servos to turn the TXT-1, so I bought the $40 645's from Tower. Munched the gears today after only a few runs. I get back on the Tower website and find the 5645's, a few dollars more but with more torque. The 5645's are more powerful, are they more durable also? Thanks! |

the 5645mg are basiclly the same BUT digital...which means it would have more holding power....which gear or gears did you strip....the 645mg are pretty good. what you should do is look for a servo that has all metal gears except for the motor drive and make sure to use the Kimbrogh black heavy duty servo saver. that should fix the problem!

I have gone through a couple of 645s myself. You can send them back to Hitec with a receipt and get it covered under warrenty. They may send you a set of gears in the mail if thats your only problem. I actually mounted the Hitec hs-805 mega torque 1/4 scale servo in my Twin Force. It puts out 343oz of torque @6volts and costs $45.00 at Tower hobbies. Its big and heavy but I never have a problem turning Jumbo Kongs I dont run a servo saver. It has thick nylon gears not metal. I'm happy with it I dont know if it will work for your application, but its worth looking in to. Just some food for thought. |

| Re: HS645MG vs. HS5645MG I stripped a few teeth off the output gear, the other gears look fine. Tower has gears for ~$17. I may try that first before I try to fit a 805 on there. I'll have to study the axle tonight, if the next set of 645 gears give up as quick as the first set then I may have to find a way to fit a 1/4 servo on there. The 805 is only 1/2" taller and wider and 1/4" thicker..... maybe I can come up with something. ;) |
