| esc question??
hey guys, i'm goin to be done w/ my VMG project pretty soon, I'm going to be running the venom fireball motor. I don't wanna use the stock esc/rx combo seeing as how I have some hitec electronics waiting to be used. My question is, is this http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/158110.asp esc any good. I don't know if any1's got any experience w/ it or not. It doesn't say whether or not its gotta reverse on it, I don't care about the no brake part, but it looks fairly small and after all the aluminum I've used/going to use on this project I'm tryin to keep things semi-cheap as far as electronics, for right now... Any help is appreciated. Thanx, Wes |

I'd go with the Novak XRS. It's a very small, yet quite capable, and inexpensive ESC. If you ever give up your VMG later you'll be able to use it in larger trucks. http://www2.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/w...I=NOVM1830&P=7 You could also use the Novak Spy, howver it's more expensive, much less capable and not much smaller. Not sure it can handle the Fireball either. http://www2.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/w...I=NOVM1870&P=7 Another option, the Airtronics ES-01 which is very small and very cheap but I have doubts it will handle a Fireball. http://www2.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/w...I=AIRM0301&P=7 Yet another option; http://www2.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/w...I=DTXM1250&P=7 Even if that wasn't an airplance ESC the amp rating would be a bit low to handle a Fireball. BTW, for crawling I'd be looking for an ESC with brakes, they can be very helpful on the declines. David Last edited by Davkin; 07-04-2005 at 04:58 PM. |
