Default tower pro MG 945 servo...........

how is this servo compaired to hitecs 955 with 333oz torque at $109.99 and it has 423oz torque at only $19.45....am i missing something or is this just a bad stay away servo....i could buy 6 of these at $10.00 more then just one hitec at $109.99 and have more torque or is that to much torque....even if each of these last 6 to 9 months of heavy weekend use to hitec lasting oh so 1 to 1.5 years, that's doubleing the life over hitec for 10 bucks more....but i haven't seen the tower pro's 945 servo in much or any builds....even if i have to buy 3 of these to one hitec i'm still saving half the money to the same lifespan.................bob

The MG 945 is a high torque, metal gear servo from Tower Pro. These are great standard size servos with tons of power, dependable, and far less costly than any other Servo with similar specs. on the market today. We highly recommend these servos for any application in which a very high torque, metal gear servo is required. These are the MG945 Model. Here are it's specifications:

*MG945 weight 55.0g
*Dimension 40.7*19.7*42.9mm
*Torque 12kg @ 6v = 423oz
*Operating speed .2 sec @ 6v

*$19.45

You have your Spec's all wrong. The TP's only do a tad over 200oz... The Hitec's are Digital and do over 300oz.

i used the torque conversion chart and came up with this for ounce inch....

12 kilogram meter = 16 664.863 868 ounce inch....

got this using ounce foot....

12 kilogram meter = 1 388.738 655 7 ounce foot....

no where near the 200 oz reading you guys are saying....using the chart i used, the numbers come closer using the weight conversion chart....so now i'm more to beleive the weight chart then the torque chart....i'll look around some more to see if anything else works out to the numbers i got, thx..............bob

You have to convert from kilogram/centimeter to inch/ounces. 13 kg/cm will give you 180.56 oz/in. This is consistent with a quick conversion factor I found by mulitplying by 13.88.

bob1961 is right he just go the units mixed up.

The tower pro MG 945 servo has torque of 423.287 ounces per what ever metric unit that those 12 Kg were at ie. If it was 12Kg/cm then it would be 423 ounces per cm.
From http://www.onlineconversion.com/torque.htm I get.
12 kilogram centimeter = 166.648 638 68 ounce inch
