| tower pro servo glitch fix
Well I just got a Tower Pro MG995 in the mail yesterday, and I noticed the horrible glitching and that it stopped when turning it fast. So I figured cheap servo cheap electronics. I pulled it apart and took out the circuit board and the POT, and replaced it with a Hitec HS-425BB circuit board and POT. Almost no glitching now. Then I noticed that the motor was glitching so I swapped motors too (you also have to swap pinions), and now its completely glitch free. If your like me and have some old servos lyin around then then this is a perfect fix. If you need any step by step pics just let me know |

So, you built a 43oz servo out of parts................how does this help the crawler world?

I've had three TP MG945s over the past year. I've never had ANY glitching problems with glitching. As mentioned above, I did have issues with the "holes wearing out" but I came up with a fix - as seen in this thread: New Life for Towerpro Servos? All told, 15.00 for a 200 in/oz servo that has lasted more than a year is not a bad deal. So let's not bash the TPs too much |

I realise its a cheap pile of donkey dukey, but that means I wont give a rats when I destroy it, now If I blew a $40 hitec where the gears cost more than tho TP servo id be a little upset, plus I got it in a trade here are some step by step pics first tear apart the TP and the doner servo then pull out the gust and make sure that the POT is the same size, along with the motor and swap the pinion gears. use a small screwdriver to pry off the pinion, but be careful not to damage the gear Then put the POT and the motor from the doner into the TP servo Put the gears back in, now would be a good time to do SeanD's mod if you wanted to Install your circuit board, and put it all back together |
