Exclamation Moped failed on a 11.1v 2200LiPo!!!

This Moped served me well with a standard 4200mah 6cell Intellect but crapped its guts on a 11.1v LiPo ...Just a warning !!!!!

Mopeds have a 6 cell limit dont they? I run mine on 7 cell and it gets a little hot.

Did you even get to pull away?

I think the limit is 7, but I never got the nerve to try it.

the lights did some strobe impression then stayed on and switched off ,next I tried the on/off switch again and no lights went on until I pushed the on position harder that made some contact and the Clod almost back flipped out of my hands ...smoke screen and thats it :-P

I never read something about this being tried here so far ...there you go!

Wow.....they should put some kind of warning on the box that says somehing like a 7 cell NiMh limit. I guess its there fault cause they dont convert that to 8.4 volts........

@HeadHunter: The specs on the Moped clearly state it is only rated to 8.4V my friend:

Input Voltage: 4.8v-8.4v (4-7cells)
"ON" resistance: 0.00056 OHM
Impulse Current of MOSFET: 70A
PWM Frequency: 2k - 4KHz
BEC output voltage: 5.0v (2A)

i put mine on 7 cells once, it got all gittery and reverse always went out. put the same esc back on 6 cells and it worked perfect again.

I ran mine numerous times on 9 cells (before switching to a Sidewinder) with no issues. But I had the red wire pulled and was using a CC BEC. I read somewhere that the ESC's BEC causes it to get hot trying to use the higher voltage. By pulling the red wire on the ESC, I eliminated the BEC. Maybe it's luck, but I have had no issues with it.

The box LOL ....have you even used one??? ...4to7cells non LiPo looks like you cant read

I felt like trying it regardless to converting NiMH specs to LiPo and making sense of that...
Some things need to be tested ....like the RTR AX-10 ESC do you think everyone read a whole bunch of in depth LiPo info before they went ahead and tried it with 3 cell L's...

7 NiMH cells always equals 8.4V, it has never been, nor will it ever be, any different. Why is your ignorance the fault of others or the box?? 8.4V max. is regardless of battery type.

I don't think he ever complained that it burned up.....

Who gives a crap what the box says? Lots of people run too many volts to the ESC to see if it will work. I think he was just trying to state that 11.1V is too much.

Technically the box says 4-7 cells.

He's was only running 3 cells when it crapped out.
