Default Airtronics MX-3

I have had a TQ-3 remote since I got my RC crawler but I got a good deal on a Airtronics MX-3 the other day so I picked it up. Right before I ordered the MX-3 I had ordered the rear steer switch from TCS to use on my TQ-3 for a dig. From the instructions for a TQ-3 Remote it looks real simple undo 3 wires and solder 3 in its place. Well I was looking at the write up for the airtronics and it is a bit more complicated looking and not as clear. Here is a link to where I am reading about it.

If I am reading it right I want to set it up like the stage 2 right? Also in the directions of the stage 2 it says to add a 100k ohm trim pot and 10k ohm resistor (1/4 watt is fine). What is a trim pot and could I get one at radio shack?

I've been running my dig on a non-tweeked MX-3 it's still better than no dig at all. I however just picked up a DX3R so I'll soon see what I've been missing.

I know it's only been couple days but have you messed around with the new radio? (DX3R)
