Default Holmes Hobbies Cobalt 7T

I installed a 7 turn on my rig with a novak rooster and I am a little dissapointed with the speed of the rig. It is a little more than twice as fast as my 55t was, way of the pace of the video on the Holmes web site(granted that was with a 3s lipo). Is something wrong? I have a 7 cell split pack, is the lower voltage my problem. If I buy a sidewinder and use some 11.1 3s lipo that I have will my speed really increase that much?

yes the votage makes that big of a difference. I have seen 55t motors go twice as fast just by bumping up to 11.1v. So if you bump up to 11.1 with the 7t puller it will be alot faster.

There was a HUUUUGE difference with my 5 turn puller when I went from a small 2s lipo to a big 3s that can burst over 100 amps.

You can also gear up a bit, but your batteries will have to deal with the added amp draw. Voltage is the best way really.

7 turns need some serious amps. even a 2 cell lipo would be a great improvement.

Part of the problem is also the internal resistance of the small cells, not just the voltage. They have trouble supplying the motor with enough amps. They work fine for short bursts, but for sustained high speed they taper off quickly.

My 7 turn puller is faster on sub C batteries than on 2/3A.

Default More juice!!!!!

I run the 5t puller in my 2.2 with a mamba max and a 4 cell lipo with a 12tooth pinion.
nothing like crawling off the rocks to race a T-4

a 3cell lipo would be more than enough.

Pullers need juice!

So after digging through my hobbie stuff I have found my 2 batteries, they are Li-ion not li-po. Will this affect the new sidewinder I ordered adversly?

No, but you should check out apogee lithium magnessium packs. They are safer than regular li-po. www.pfmdistribution.com/
