| I mount mine horizontaly so the body protectects it when rolling. It's poking out the passengers corner of the roof.Range isn't an issue for a comp rig. |

i run the older spektrum recievers with my DX3r cause you can still cut those down to less then 3",so it just stays under the body....

| I keep mine a little stub but completely under the body, so the rx can go under the water level and i have no issues |

Usually I just let it flop around until it gets ripped off by something. Then I keep driving and don't worry about it. |

You can see mine here. I just CA a piece of antenna tube to my receiver and run the tube horizontal. I do this on all of my cars, crawler or not - no antenna mount required. If the wire is longer I run two tubes, and have it "s" back through the second tube and out. |

Can someone tell me why the ground antennas are so big. I use spektrum air rx's and the antennas are WAY smaller.

Depends on the air RX, some of the air receivers have a larger antenna and a remote receiver to gain range. Only the park flyer receivers have smaller antennas but two of them. Ground vehicles need a slightly larger antenna so they have sufficient range because DSM is line of sight. With something in the air you're always flying within line of sight of the radio where the signal is strongest. On the ground you've got a car going up and over things, behind obstacles, behind jumps, etc which can interfere and reduce range. With the smaller receivers (like the ones I run) there is range issue at over 80-100m. The larger antenna resolves this, as long as the user has it going straight up. That is also the reason park flyer receivers have two antennas. You should mount your receiver so one antenna is going toward the right, and the other left, so when you are flying you've always got an antenna that is open to the radio and not blinded by the airframe. The AR7000 has two 30mm antennas, and a remove receiver with two more antennas which increases range and lessens the chance of having a blind spot on larger airframes. They also are more redundant since they operate on two RF frequencies as if you had two receivers running the aircraft. Should one have interference, you have one to fall back to. |

I had it runing through some extra holes in my chassis like below, but I went with a cleaner look by cutting an atenna tube to fit and zip-tied it to the chassis. Don't have pics of the new setup right now. |
