Question New ESC or go brushless?

Hey everyone,
I finally got my crawler after drooling over the axial for months. You guys have some cool rigs! Got mine off a friend who bought it, crawled it once in his kitchen, and sold it to me cheap . Currently it has a Integy 55t with Futaba MC230CR speed controller. I know I need a new SC, but I already have a Quark33 for the 18th scale. My question is would I be better off purchasing a Sidewinder and using the 55t or would it be better to use my Quark33 and buying an outrunner from Holmes Hobbies? The price is about the same so that does not matter. Currently I'm running 2c lipo if it makes a difference.

Thanks in advance!

I run a Sidewinder with a handwound 55t and a 3s lipo. It is a flawlwess performing esc. You will not be disappointed. Also you can program it from your computer thru the castle link, whick makes it very user freindly

I would say get a better ESC for brushed motors first. Then if you want an outrunner get that afterwards or for a different rig.

I myself was wondering this. I just lost an esc and wonder if the goat is the crawler for me.

I had a mamba 25 esc with a GWS 2212/15 outrunner and even with modern programming it was very jerky (cogging issues). I just went back to brushed with a 45t and a sidewinder. It is smooth as butta'!

I'm running a Side Winder with a 55T Axiom that I tweaked, and a 3S LIPO. I love it, the tune ability is awesome. Not to mention that its just about bullet proof.

In my opinion I would either go with a Side Winder or a Mamba Max.
