Default Variable rate charger?

I was out of RC for a good 8 years before I built my crawler. Its almost complete and I just ordered a 7 cell c pack with elite 1500 batteries from cheapbatterypacks.com. I have an old hobbico variable rate charger that is in excellent shape. Should it be ok to use with this new battery pack or are the newer chargers different? This does trickle charging and a 15minute quick charge.
Thanks,
Kevin

depending on how many cells it supports, I think it should be ok. But a lot of the newer chargers are built much better.

I would not use that charger with... well any battery, but especially the Elite 1500's. You will kill them. Pony up and get a decent charger like an Elite or Hyperion otherwise it's piontless to buy nice batteries like the Elite1500's.
