Default Smoking...

I tried searching, but had no luck. Here is the quick story....

I bought an Axial ARTR w/ a "ready to run kit" off ebay. Well they didn't mention the ESC was a forward only (what the hell good is that for a crawler?!) I bought an inexpensive forward/reverse ESC at the LHS. After getting it hooked up, I was having some problems getting it to program. After some trouble shooting I ended up taking it to the LHS to see what they could do. Now, I have forward w/ no problems....but no reverse. When you put the trigger in reverse it will either do nothing or go extremely slow. The other problem is that the battery connection gets very hot..and will even smoke?!?! Any suggestions, or links will be greatly appreciated.

The motor is an Integy 55t, 1600 NiMH, and a Traxxas TQ3 transmitter w/ Traxxas receiver.

Sounds like theres a short somewhere or really really worn out Tamiya connectors. Id check and make sure your drivetrain spins freely, your gear mesh isnt too tight and make sure the motor is in good working order. But smoking battery plugs is bad times.

Which esc did you buy?

sounds like your stock axial ESC is messed up. my nieghbors have two of the kits, and bought 2 stock escs and 27t axial motors. they have rsv on both of their kits.

The drivetrain seems to be moving freely and properly at this point. The connector isn't that old...only about a month or so.
