Default Cranking down Lipo power

I know, this does not sound like something people do, but is there any way to take the 11.1 volt LIPO and bring down the voltage to 9.something? I don't want to get a new ESC just yet, but I need a new battery.

Thanks
DIma

I think lipos can not go below 3.7 volts per cell, but A123 packs are 3.3 volts per cell so a 3s A123 is 9.9 volts. Also I think RCP sells a turbo module, that will step up the voltage form 9.9 to 10.8, 12, 13.8, and 14.4. I never tried it, but it might help with what you are looking for.

What exactly is a A123 pack? I have no idea what the difference is with the 123's and the Lipo's

Thanks

I think A123 batteries are lithium-ion batteries as opposed to lithium-polymer (lipo)

Sure you can, you just need to use a voltage regulator like a CCBEC, to bring the voltage down to what you want

It'll smoke in hurry trying to regulate the battery voltage to the ESC.

Flatty: IMO, let go of the wallet and buy a new ESC. If you're going to be spending the $ on a good lipo, you shouldn't try and cut corners with the ESC.
