| 2 cell lipo vs 3 cell lipo.
Will I really notice the difference? I am trying to figure out what to run, and I can't figure it out. I am running 8 NI-mh cells on my stock axial ESC for a few months now. I did run 9 cells for a bit. If I run the 2 cell LIPO will I REALLY notice the big difference there? I know it is a 7.1volt VS 11.1volt. Thanks DIma |

um, YES! i run 3 cells and ill never go back. i used to run 8 cell NIMH, and thought it was awesome. when i first tried an 11.1v i thought "no way, too ****in fast!" but now i don't know what i would do without it. my berg 2.2 can do J-turns on smooth floors and pull wheelies on carpet with 45t lathe motors.

my turck also runs the 3 cell, the 11.1v...lipos are very light...make sure you have some sort of protection voltage cutoff when you use the lipos...you can pick up a novak safety device for like 20 bucks if you esc is not equipped!

flatty, 11.1v is the ONLY thing i will run in my rig. get yourself a sidewinder esc (or a mamba if you have extra cash to burn). i cant believe i ever wasted my time with nimh. |

You guys keep takling about a cutoff.... is that the BEC? If so, why is one necessary? What does it prevent? Thanks Dima |

the cutoff is a voltage cut off , if a lipo drops past a certain level, it will not be able to be recharged, some esc's like the mamba max come with a lipo cutoff, novak also sells, a 2 and 3 cell cutoff that can be soldered to your current esc, i use mamba maxs and prefer 3 cell 11v lipos

by discharging your new lipo battery too much you'll destroy it. the cells will puff up and possible explode. you might as well light $50 on fire and stand back.

What would be the difference between these 2 batteries (as far as discharge goes) http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...0C_Lipoly_Pack (30~40C) http://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDH...00mAh_3S1P_25C (25C constant 30C burst) Also can you tell me how much runtime the difference will be with these 2? Also, what kind of BEC would I need on these. Thanks Dima |

I checked these links and I wood go with the 2100, hands-down! The reviews for the 1000 are not good at all. Also just for information: BEC = "Battery Eliminator Circuit" U will need a 3-cell BEC, or one that can handle 11.1vdc. |

Run time?? the 1400mah will give you about a third more time than the 1000mah. The capacity (fuel level) of a battery is stated in amp-hrs (mah = milli amp hrs) So the 1000mah has 71% of the capacity of the 1400mah. It's like comparing gas tanks, in this case it's like a 20 gal to a 14gal tank, which do you think will give you a longer range with the same engine?

AreCee- What mah capacity 3S Lipo did you put there? (got a link to the vendor you used?) Some of them look kind of big. Also, what kind of runtimes do you get with it? |

I get to do some practice, finish a comp and play afterwards on one charge. About an hour or so, I really don't know because I never ran them until the cutoff kicks in. Comps are five minutes per course!
