Default Charging Jack for TX

I'm looking at putting a charging jack of some kind in my TQ3. I am tired of taking the 8 batteries out and charging them four at a time in the charger. I want to leave them in the TX and charge them there using my main battery charger - for better charge control and convenience.

I just want verification that all I need to do is run two leads off the battery tray (contacts where the power is supplied to the TX) to a jack of some sort - I am looking at using a female deans plug. Other than making sure that the wires are attached to the plug with the right polarity, I can't see anything else that would need to be done. I will then mount the deans plug into the housing of the TX somehow.

Anybody have anything to add?

Hey Sean,

Do it up right and use the proper connector. Go to your local "The Source by Circuit City" and get one of these:

http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Produ...roduct=2741563

and it's mate:

Find a convenient spot on the case of your radio (with enough room behind it, likely somewhere on the base or handle), drill a hole and mount the connector.

The beauty of this type of connector is that the action of inserting the mating power plug is used as a switch. That way you can disconnect the +ve (red) wire running to the electronics, keeping them from harm when you go to charge. Also, make sure you wire the plug & socket up so that the +ve is on the inside where it's safe from shorting out

PM me if you need more help.

Yep, that looks a lot easier and neater. Plus I like the idea of the switch.

Thanks much.

Actually I just had my TX all apart the other night when I put in two sets of EPA pots for my front and rear steering. Yeah, somewhere down around the battery tray is where I plan on putting it - there's a fair bit of space down there.

Just a little off topic - I made some changes to my steering setup which threw off my servo throw (pun intended). After the change, my servo throw was too far and my servos were getting REALLY hiot. I picked up pots and threw them on, set the end points and badda boom, badda bing nice and cool servos!!!

NitroX -The white pot is the trim for your third channel.
