Yes, if you have a BEC disconnect it.

Does your reciever have a spot for a battery to connect to?

Plug your reciever battery into the reciever. You have three colored wires going to the speed controler (ESC), black, red and a white wire. At the connector end remove the red wire out of the connector and tape over. This will stop the flow of power from the BEC out of the ESC to the reciever. The white wire carries the signal to the ESC.

RX packs make no sense to me. Wasted space and weight, and more batteries to charge and keep track of charge. Get a CC BEC and forget it. |

Running a seperate RX pack comes in handy when you are using a non BEC reciever and a very high power servo like a 1/4 scale one. 1/4 scale servo's draw more power than a reciever can supply. Also running servos at a higher voltage gives you faster rotation with more torque. Once again a higher voltage will fry a reciever.

A Castle Creations BEC is the simplest solution for servo power. Like Robb said, you won't have to charge an extra pack. | |
