I highly recommend the tekin fxr combo. Fully adjustable and 3 cell capable. Novak rooster is not adjustable and a 2 cell lipo limit.

I own both esc's and They Tekin is just a better esc. Both have a great drag break but the Tekin has alot more to offer than just the drag break.( 11v lipo, or 10cell NiMh, fully adjustable paramiters, TINY ).

Super easy to program, it comes with instructions. You basically tap buttons.

well acording to the instructions:
input power FX/FX-R : 4-7 NiCd/ NiMh cells, 2s,3s LiPo
input power FX Pro/FX-r Pro : 4-9 NiCd/Nimh cells, 2s, 3s LiPo

but maybe others had luck with more cells

I have had both. The Tekin is by far and away a better esc. The drag brake can be fine tuned where the Rooster is just on or off. Its smoother overall too and half the size of the Rooster.

Those specs are really more geared towards fast stuff. Crawler motors draw so little amperage it probably won't be an issue to run 10 cells on a FX-R. It might need a fan though, and it'll definitely need an external BEC. And yes, the FX-R is worlds away from the rooster, I've had both, I sold my rooster 2 months after I bought it.

Actually, if you're using a lower turned motor, you can't use a 3S lipo, which is only allowed for crawler motors.

So the 3S or 9 cell limit already takes the lower demands of crawling into account.

Glad to hear Tekin stuff is working well in the crawling scene. I tried searching for info on the G10/G11 line of controllers to see if anyone has had any luck using them but came up empty. I searched Tekin G10, Tekin+G10 adn a couple others.

Anyway, the Tekin site lists them as up to 10 cells so I thought it might be a good choice. Plus I am pretty sure I have one laying around I could use!

Thanks in advance!

Chris

I had terrible luck with both Novak systems, the Rooster and Goat. The Rooster was sent back for a firmware update. It "jittered" worse after I got it back. I sent them back to Novak, who sent me brand new ones in factory sealed boxes. I didn't even bother to try them again. I purchased a new FRS combo system, and was mad at myself for not buying it sooner. It works perfectly. Tekin all the way!
