I saw this the other day. Was curious, will it only run with a 2s LIPO? No Nimh cells? Does it need its own seperate battery or can I run it off a CC BEC tied to the main nimh battery?

Battery's chemical usually doesn't make a difference, it's what it puts out. NiMh will do fine |

| You will lose power/speed. Higher voltage in a servo will offer faster and stronger, so it you don't use the 7.4 2S you'd end up with basically aan aluminum case 8711, which in and of itself is worth the price if you ask me.

| Actually if you are running a BEC all you would have to do is set it to 7.4v. giving that your running at least an 8.4v pack. Like stated above the servo can't tell what kind of battery the power is coming from, just how much voltage it is getting. Even if your only runninng a 7.2v pack setting the BEC to 7.2v would be cloose enough that you should get only a couple of ounces less than the ratings.

A fully charged pack will put out more than 7.4 anyway, so initially you'll have a higher voltage/torque that will taper off as the pack flattens. The added advantage of running straight off the battery is you can pull as many amps as the battery will allow, instead of 5A/10A or whatever the BEC can handle. I wonder what the Rx plug looks like? A single wire for the Rx and a deans off the power wires?! |

The plug is no different from any other servo. Most receivers can handle up to 8.4V. The original idea behind these servos is so that nitro racers that run 7.4V lipo receiver packs don't have to run a regulator AND you get that crazy torque/speed... So for crawlers, you're gonna have to do some creative wiring for direct power or the typical BEC bypass to run an external regulator like the CCBEC..

$200??? Wow, it's only $75 more than my 7950TH and has the same specs. Must be to fill Horizons pockets by duping even more customers. |

For that price, I'd buy one. Got any links?

I have been running one for a few months now. It is holding up great. The torque is amazing and the speed is great. It is noticeably faster than my regular 8711. Running delrin steering links and it will flex the heck out of em!! |

I assume a 5a BEC would be fine, but wonder what the stall current is on it?

| The handling is smooth and steering the huge, heavy, and grippy Nova's Ark plowboy/foams combo + 115mm DNA's on stand still is easy. They run cool, as the aluminum case acts like a huge heat sink. With all the torque, mounting ears become the weakest point, but since these are aluminum they sure do not break. 3-year warranty is one of the best. Sent back a servo and got a replacement sent to me via EMS. Shipping cost was shouldered by Horizon Hobby. at $149, that's simply a Great deal. |

Not sure what your plan is, but if you are going to try to use it without a external BEC, dont waste your time unless its the ESC from JRH. | ||
