what is the difference between outrunner/inrunner brushless motors? and will you see increased run times with brushless? |

The difference is that inrunners are sensored which means they are smoother. Outrunners don't have the best low speed control. You may see some battery time increase but it depends on how you drive.

Inrunners can be sensored and unsensored. The difference is in the construction. An inrunner has a rotor that spins within the motor can like a standard brushed motor. With an outrunner, the motor can itself spins. Outrunners generally have more torque for their size. But like was said, startup can be a problem. A good example of a sensored inrunner is the Novak Goat motor. An example of a brushless outrunner motor would be the Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster series. Unsensored inrunners are generally used for high speed applications... |

can you run a sensored motor with any ESC (brushless capable). or are there sensored specific ESC's?

Don't quote me on this, but I believe you can run a sensored motor with a non-sensored ESC but not vice-versa.
