its a great esc for crawling, you can program it to how ever much drag brake and throttle you prefer.... make sure you get a castle link to do so though...

I have mine on 90% drag in one of my scalers and it runs downhill perfectly, with no throttle input.
Love it!

I've got one i tore out of my buggy to put into my truck and love it. but i'm far from an expert on things electrical. I'm using it with a integy brushed 55 turn motor. it seems to hold in hills pretty good

I'm becoming a very big fan of castle products, have a mamba max in the mail for the buggy (or vice versa, we'll see)

I have a Mamba max and a sidewinder there is one thing that i havent read on here yet, These esc have brakes forward and reverse. If your truck is rolling either direction on a hill and you want it to stop. Just barely move the trigger and It will lock it up.

I run my drag brake at 100%
Forward and reverse at 100%
Lipo cut off at auto sensing so i can run a 2s or 3s
All the other settings are at Default.

Thats just my style and were i drive.

Yep the sidewinder is perfect to run any 2.2 or Super rig (2 ESCs of course).

Is everyone running the sidewinder 1/10 scale esc? Is this the one that is brushed and brushless ready? Is there anyway to program the esc other than using the castle link? I am trying to decide between the sidewinder or rooster crawler. Any thoughts?

yes its the sidewinder 1/10. You can "stick" program it, however the castle link is worth 10x its weight in gold. The ability to adjust the power/brake curves, as well as pretty much everything else is invaluable. No longer are you stuck with a couple of preprogrammed curves, you can now tune it to your particular driving style and location. but i dont have an opinion

So what do you do with the 3rd motor lead if your using a brushed motor instead of brushless? Can the sidewinder be programmed for zero delay between forward and reverse?

I just wrapped mine up with some electrical tape.
Yes it can be programmed with zero delay.

You just leave the white wire loose or unhooked. I would also leave the bullet ends on the Mamba Max or Sidewinder, you may want to run brushless later and not have the bullet ends on there is a PITA! And yes you can have 0 delay if you want

You just dont use the third wire ( white one ) , It has ZERO delay forward to reverse. I used to run a Rooster Crawler , I would never buy another one now , Castle Sidewinder for brushed motors , there is no other.
