| Recommend a decent ESC for crawler...
I am just getting into crawling and have a PTI Goliath. The ESC I have has no braking and a delay in reverse that drives me nuts. I need an inexpensive alternative for now....eventually I will upgrade to brushless, but that will be a while. What are some of you using? and how much are they? |

I don't have one yet, but I've driven the Tekin FX-R and I loved it... I'm hoping Santa brings me one. I've seen it with a Tekin 55t motor for $99 new.

This is where I got my Tekin FX R combo 55t https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...s&pn=TEKTT2102 The drag brake is very strong. You can program it with the buttons on it. I turned the reverse delay off. This is a great esc. Matt 45t https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...s&pn=TEKTT2104 35t https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...s&pn=TEKTT2104 I got the saddle packs from Holems hobbies maybe he's out of the saddle packs-all I see is lipos http://holmeshobbies.com/home.php?cat=22 |

Tekin FX-R IMHO - Best Crawler ESC in terms of features, size, abilities. None are perfect...but the Tekin is awfully close. |

the FXR is what i run and wouldn't go any other way. Theres no reason to go brushless. But if you are dead set on going brushless eventually then buy a Castle Creations sidewinder. I with get you going fo now and when you go brushless it will handle that job as well. |

I may have not understood prperly, but I thought the Castle esc cound not handle a 55t brushed motor when you have it set on fwd and reverse? I will keep my eye out for a Tekin.....maybe Santa will bring me one |

Yep, you want a brushed motor for crawling...get the Tekin FX-R/55t Crawler Combo, it's the best setup made, PERIOD!

I agree with the keeping with brushed advice after doing some reading....I still need a better esc. I appreciate your recommendations, I just need to find a used one as money is tight, but I still need to get my crawl on |

You will sometimes see a used Rooster Crawler in the $50 range - I don't think I've seen an FXR that low. All of the suggestions so far would be good choices, I believe - just keep an eye out for a used one. -- for a new one, I don't know that you can beat the FXR in the mid 90's without a motor. |

| I know of a cheaper esc that has the drag brake! It moves my 65t for my axial and it's small. |

I have a duratrax intel 16t for my backup esc. It works okay but not worth it if one is looking for a decent crawler esc. the reverse delay also sucks a@@.
