what's the best charge rate for a 10 cell 1500 elite saddle pack.... i bought a hyperion 0606i charger just in case i go lipo...........bob .... |

I guess I should clarify that a little more. The value that I gave above is the MAXIMUM charge rate that you should use for charging those cells. Anything lower will be fine, but it will take a little longer...

Is it better to just slow charge them at say .4amps or charge them at like 1.4 and then have it trickle charge after or does it not really matter?

The lower the amperage, the easier it is on the battery. But really, charging at 1.5A is not THAT hard on 'em. Decent cells can actually handle charge rates up to twice their rate capacity. So you could actually charge those cells at 3A. But that is hard on the battery and will shorten it's life. Racers usually do that because the pack will charge to a higher voltage than if charged at only 1.5A. This give the pack a little more initial punch to help accelerate off the line at the start of a race. Not much of a benefit in crawling.
