Which XL5? The blue ones are waterproof, IIRC. You could put it in a small tupperware container with a lid. |

Well, waterproofing means that you will have inconveniences. You can either not run it through water, purchase a waterproof ESC or take waterproofing methods (that will likely require a few extra steps to turn on the ESC).

Keep the esc on and just use the battery as an on/off switch.

You cant do that with the XL5. It requires reprogramming upon each powerup. This means that you MUST push the button on the ESC after you apply power if you wish for the ESC to come on.

You need to either put it in a box w/a lid or a balloon. If you coat the esc w/di-electric, you will be taking some away every time you push the program button. IMO, put it in a balloon, and fill the opening of the balloon w/di-electric. |

With dielectric grease you stuff the inside of the whatever it is your water proofing (servo, receiver, esc). Most cases are water resistant but stuffing it with the dielectric grease will make it 100% water proof because water wont be able to get inside (physically no room for it)
