Default charging 8 cell on a 7 cell charger?

just wondering what the problem would be with charging an 8 cell split pack of Elite 1500s with a charger that is rated for up to 7 cells?

whats it not going to do that one thats rated for 8 cells will do?

What charger are you using? Do you know what the charge rate is for the 7 cell setting? (How many amps)

8 cell

what amperage will it choose to charge the smaller cells like these on even though they are 7 or 8 cell packs?

ok so i see from what im reading that 1-1.5 amp is the recommended setting for these type battery packs. now my question is...this charger "auto selects" the correct charging scenario so how do i go about making sure that it charges on the 1 amp setting instead of the 4 amp?

Plug in the battery and see which amperage it selects. It should select the 1 amp setting. IF it doesn't pull the pack off and we can go from there.

ok so i re-read the instruction manual for the charger...it says that it selects the amp rate based on voltage of the pack...so from what i know that means that it will select the 4 amp rate...any way to get around that...

Simply put, the max voltage it's going to put out is what it would take to charge a 7 cell pack which is probably ~9v or so. 8 cell would need ~10.2 or so. So, it shouldn't charge based on the specs given for that charger. I'd try it and see though cuz you never know...

Worst case you can redo the connectors to where you have 2 4cell packs. Charge them as 4 cell packs and run them in series as an 8 cell pack.
