| Don't do it. You could put the charger on a battery and then do it. Don't ask me to tell you exactly why, I can't remember but I am sure JRH or someone wil post up and say why. Cheapest thing to do is convert a computer power supply. I will look for the link I used to convert the one I have. You need to add a small resistor to make most of them turn on. A cheap battery booster (jump pack) works well.

I think JRH said hooking directly to the charger gives you unregulted power, but it its hooked to a battery, the battery will act as a regulator.

A jump box is dirty power and will not give you a good outcome. I use a pc power supply, Works like a charm |

I got my 25 amp switching power supply from Radio Shack, and it's got more then enough power to charge any battery I got. Also it is ready to go right out of the box |

| That is backwards from what he is trying to do. He is wanting 12v to run a DC charger, not 110v for an AC charger. If you are wanting to know if you can run a 110v charger off of a 12v batt and an inverter then yes it will work. Last edited by Scattman; 12-20-2008 at 08:27 PM. |

| True, the power is somewhat "dirty", but it was FREE, and has been working fine for 3+ yrs. The chargers circuit cleans the output so the charger takes the ill effects of the dirtiness. Claims are the dirty power decreases the life of the component, but like I said, 3+yrs...

| http://cgi.ebay.com/DuraComm-Lp-14n-...3A1%7C294%3A50 I picked up one of these and just took the power pigtail (SAE end) and routed it to the front panel to a pair of terminals from Radio Shack. Total cost was $35 including the ebay purchase and the Radio Shack part. Took only about 15 minutes to re-wire. I can now run BOTH of my Venom Pro Chargers at 5amps, and all goes smoothly. A modest Power Supply from Tiger Direct still costs $40 and then you have to buy resistors and mod it. This eBay purchase was a SWEET find. These retail all over the net from $60 - $130....so under $30 on ebay is not bad. It is working well for me.
