Default Drag Brake with cc Sidewinder

I put Sidewinder + 35T ( Sinner motor from R2J ) in my AX-10. I set the drag brake to 100%
but it can't hold my rig either on vertical climb or downhill ? Is it normal or something wrong ? please help. Thanks.

with brushed motors the brakes will be weak. especially if you're running a regular lathe motor. try some stronger springs

Or better yet,put a Cobalt puller in there. Standard mag motors all have a fair drag brake at best. A motor with cobalt magnets will have a stronger magnetic field from the stronger magnets, therefore a stronger drag brake.

I've noticed this as well with my Sidewinder/JPC 45t.My buddy has a Rooster Crawler/55t combo & it holds great:-(

The magnetic field between those 2 motors should be dang near identical. Lower gearing can make a rig "seem like" it's got more drag brake. Tighter gear mesh can as well, but temps will go up. Different springs......

Guess I can try stiffer springs 'till I get the moolah for a more powerful motor, but his rig is a bone stock ARTR,stock gearing.I swear if he's at full speed & lets off the throttle his damn tires skid to a stop

Well in my Axial with TALLER gears,10t puller and a Mamba Max with 100% drag brake.....at times it has flipped itself over coming to a stop.

Play around with your throttle and reverse curves also, that can help some.

Rooster is a HOLD brake.... Mamba's are a drag brake. I thought the same thing with mine. The motor has nothing to do with the hold brake on the Rooster.... it's just a feature of the ESC. IMO it's too much hold..... makes it hard to descend a steep grade without flipping forwards. When I get my rig back together im going to try the mamba and see how I like it. It is nice to just be able to STOP on a steep incline and regroup.

When I find my CC cable I'll try that.I see how too much brake can be a problem too,but it would be nice to have a bit more braking than I do so that I have the option 2 rethink my lines for a second.
