| Seperate power supply for servo??
Doe's anybody run their servos off a seperate power supply and if so, does it provide worth while longer over all run times by splitting up the motor/servo ?? How did you go about setting it up?? The only way i'm familiar with is the ol' 4 pack AA set up that comes with most controller packages.... |

check out Castle Creations BEC (bec=battery eliminator circuit). It won't do anything for run times, but you can adjust the output voltage (with castle link) and it has a 10 amp output. I don't know what esc your running, but must cheapo esc's have a rather lame bec out put. Plus the cc bec is alot lighter that 4 aa's

I did this on my 1:6 JK. First i ran a 3300 7.2v on both the motors and servo and it was ok. Once i got a seperate battery for the servo, my runtime doubled and the steering was alot stronger. Weird thing is i hardly ever had to charge the servo battery. Now I run dual 4000 mah's at 14.4 volts and there's no need for a servo battery |

Go with the CC BEC, why run extra weight if you don't have to??

My set up is the LRP waterproof AI runner series foward/reverse/brake, 1 65t motor and a Hitec HS645mg. Can you recommend what you think would be the ideal package for this basic set up??

Hi You can also run a little battery pack with 4 AAA batteries for the electronics. This is usually important in a flying rig, since if the power fails to the ESC you might crash. Some small LiPoly battery packs specifically for electronics are now available. LiPolys require more care, but can outlast NiMh in this application. The setback in both of these cases is that you will require an extra switch to power off the electronics. Good luck with your build! -Migs |
