we decided to send them back since we couldn't figure out how to mount them for our applications since they are so damn big.so anyone got any pics on how they mounted them?

You have the same problem I had, I sat looking at the axle and that big ass servo for an hour and a half tring to figure out the best place top put it. Finally put it in the only place that it would fit. I know you guys are running locked out Maxx axles so my mounting probaly wont help, and I`m still a few weeks away from mounting another set of these on my Maxx axled hybrid. Let us know how it turns out.

Killertxt,

Is that servo really worth having it stick out so far in the front? That is almost as much as the stock TXT servo mount. It seems like you would still have a problem with staight on approches.

erick, yeah thats about what i did last night. i was racking my brain trying to figure out something. so i decided to hack up my chassis some more( like it could get any worse ) and mount it to the chassis. then just use a tierod/draglink to the knuckles. basically setup like a 1:1 using Hysteer would be setup.i was thinking in the front, but that would just kill my approach angle and i would rather run a smaller servo than do that. hopefully i can get it to work and not look too much like dog shit.. thanks for the pics guys

I just got 3 of the TS-80 servos (looks like the same one as killertxt) from Tower in the mail today. Damn I did realize how frickin huge they were. I dont think Im going to mount them on my clod. Ill stick them on my mad force axles. So I may end up selling one if anyones intrested.

I have killed 2 xtm 175"s and 1 hitec 645 on the front.The 1/4 scale
kicks a$$. I have no problem with staight on approch. The mount is 1/2 inch shorter than stock.

Killertxt,

I just killed the gears on one of my 945mg's. It would be nice having all that torqe for steering but it just seems so big. I like my new servo mount, it is almost completly out of the way.

What kind of batteries do you have to run to have two CS-80's? and can they be plugged into a standard novak reciever?

Nice mount I had the xtm behind the axle. I will be installing a HS 805
on the rear soon. I have a 5 cell sub c 2000 mah running the 805's.

Look around the comp pics from the Oregon guys, there are several Maxxed based crawlers in them and some appear to be running 1/4 scales. And yes, the 175`s are SLOW .

I agree with killer, the mounting pains of the 1/4`s will definately be worth it in the end, you will never look back after that.

As for batts use the largest batt you can get as the CS-80 draws 700mA running with no load. Hobbico says :" *Note: with its enormous output torque, this servo requires a very high current drain from the radio battery. It`s strongly recomended that a battery of no less than 1200mAh be used with this servo. For car applications, the current should NOT be fed through the BEC regulator. It should go directly from the battery to the servo. Failure to do so may result in permanent damage to your BEC unit, reciver or the servo." Also says that you can plug the batt directly into non BEC receivers.
I`m getting about an hour per charge on the servos with a 6v 2000mAh batt.

Hope this helps some.
