I run dual FX-R's on my berg. I like it a lot. Stall is not much of an issue with 1 esc on a berg, but I had a lot of trouble with the dig switches burning out or sticking.
I'd steer away from the HV-Maxx, it has a reverse delay, which sucks. Trust me, you do not need a dual motor specific ESC in a 2.2, ever.
If you don't already have the ESC's you mentioned, I'd buy either FX-R's, mamba maxes or sidewinders. All of them are a lot better than the novak crawler. The FX-R is the same price, the sidewinder is actually cheaper. Any of those (including the novak) would be strong enough to handle both motors at the same time.
I dislike the novak crawler because it's not programmable, it won't handle higher voltages I think are necessary, and it's overpriced, considering what you get. All the ESC's I've listed will handle 3 cell lipo, are computer programmable, and both tekin and Castle have excellent customer service.

I totally agree. and I know you said with 6-7 cell but having the option to run more cells or to go 3c lipo is nice. That way lattle on you won't have to rebuy 2 new esc's. The Tekin FXR is by far the best brushed esc out there. The castles are nice too.
