Are these things junk? I see a million of them on ebay for 20us for 2. I mean a 10 dollar servo wouldn't need to last long for me but how do they hold up?

I run them on my basher rigs and the hold up fairly well. I get these!

they work good.they have some centering problems.they go from full lock to past center to center.they last as long as my futaba and hitec servos of the same vintage/rating.to help them last longer open them up and grease the shafts the gears ride on. also look into hextronik servos the 12 k is about the same but 8 bucks each. i get mine from hobby city shippings high but order alot of stuff and its not so bad.

I have two of these, well the previous version of them. They are powerfull enough for an AX-10. Gears wear and get sloppy, centering is awful, and they're not sealed or waterproof. The first one has fried it's motor after just 50 hours of crawling.

I got 'em for US$12 each so I'm not complaining, but I won't get any more.

Cheers.

I had mine for about 6 months. I just got the 7995tg and it great! The old towerpro would just shake all the time. Matt

bought 2, running 4ws in my 2.2. Rear one crapped out after 4-5 runs. BEC was set at @6v, so down to the "you get what you pay for" factor. The front one is still going strong. It has centering issues and will glitch every once in a while, but hey, it's dirt cheap. I put a Hobao H102 (rebadged Futaba S3305) in the back and it's definitely a lot better. I should get something stronger to use in the front before the TP dies though. They are DEFINITELY NOT putting out the torque they claim, the S3305 is rated 124oz/in@6v and has more throwing and holding power than the mg995.

In fewer words, have them, OK for the price, will never buy again.

Have/had two.
First died after 4mo on the front of a TLT comp rig.
Second sat on the shelf. Now activates a dump truck bed on a 1:18 rig. Finds home, but cannot find it's endpoint when the bed has no weight in it. It raises then dances around.
Then bought their new version, 945??. It worked great on the 2.2 comp for another few months, but died a quick death in a 3ft nose dive.

1 out of 5 stars for quality.
2 out of 5 for durability.
2 out of 5 for bang for the buck.

Like others have said, it's an ok servo. I would not use them on a comp rig, but for scalers, bashers and trail rigs they work pretty well.
I was making them into winches for my scalers and they work really well for that.
