Default Which esc,Tekin FXR or Novak rooster or??

I'm going to buy a new ESC for my sons crawler,it has a LRP on it now (came on it when I bought it used).I don't like it compared to my Tekin FXR.The LRP isn't as smooth or as touchy as the fxr,you can really get down very slow crawling around with it(FXR).I don't know if the LRP is going bad or that's the way it is,it's kind of jumpy on the throttle sometimes. Are the roosters a good choice,I can buy one of those tomorrow at a hobby store the Tekin I'll have to order. Both have a 55T motor and are AX10's.Which would you get?The only thing I dislike about the FXR ,is that you have to solder the wires on.
THANKS JEFF

The Novak isn't really in the same catagory as the Tekin if you ask me. The Tekin has adjustable and amazing drag break, less than half the size, and is 3s lipo compatible. The Novak drag break is way too strong and non adjustable.

This has been asked quite a few times lately...hands down the Tekin FX-R is the way to go. Even without the Hot Wire USB the adjustments are insane. It is by far the smallest foot print of any ESC currently out there for crawling, and the direct solder posts make it possible to wire it up in any configuration you could ever need.

Check out kaetwo's original review thread and all the posts thereafter...that's what sold me on mine, and now I have one in each rig I own. Visit Tekin's web site also

The FX-R will run you pretty much the same coin anywhere you look; $95 to $100

I always suggest your local shop first, but if you need to order online, you'll find plenty of sources right here on RCC.

RCP, TCS, RPP, Holmes Hobbies, etc.

If you run 55's then sure, for 15 clams you'll have and extra one. But if you really don't need it, I'd save the cash...15 bucks will get you a couple parts for your rig ;)

Seriously bro'...GTB for crawling?

I'm afraid of anything orange lately, the quality just isn't there any longer in my opinion.

The motor on it now is a integy and I guess it's the motor that's noisy compared to the Tekin.

The motor that is packaged with the FX-R is pretty much an Integy 55.

Most of the crawling motors other than custom winds and specialties like the beauties that John Holmes sells, are all coming out of one or two factories. If you look at any given motor, 8 out of 10 will have an Epic end bell on them.

I've run nothing but Integy cans since day one...V11 55's in my Super, and a $20 black can double shunt in my 2.2. They're great little motors.

For an AX-10, I'd suggest a 35 or 45 turn motor. Not the 55 turn. If you are only going to run 6 cells, I'd say get a 35T. On 8 cells, a 45T. Hands down, the Tekin FXR is the nicest brushed crawler ESC I've seen.

Tekin all the way. Oh and if you need a motor get the combo. The axial motors are less than to be desired. They are closed end bell with bushings. Integy's cheap lathes are better than them. My budy has an axial 55t and a 27t and the are both under pwered if you ask me. The magnets they use in them aren't very strong. He just installed a plain jane 35t integey and he gained torque over the 55t axial motor and it has almost as much wheelspeed as his old 27t axial motor.

Im a tekin fan too.

I would go 35t. Im running the tekin 35t handwounds and i can't belive how smooth they are at low rpm and have some get up and go when you want it.

if you like glitching and the smell of smoke go with a fxr. but if you want to keep on crawling and winning comps go with novak rooster crawler or mamba max. If you look thru this forum its full of "help my fxr is messed up" thats not a good sign. plus a friend of mine works at a hobby shop and the return rate is crazy. he tells them to just call tekin sevice for help

Come on, you're just jealous that you don't have a FXR
I have 4 of them, 2 standard FXRs and 2 FXR-Pros....best ESCs that I have ever owned, I also know a ton of people who run them and none of them have had any problems either
