Default Will my servo work at it's full strength at 5 volts?

My steering servo is rated for 425 oz. @ 6 volts, if my CC BEC is running at it's default 5 volts, is my servo still putting out all the power it's capable of?

Or do I need to program the BEC to 6 volts?

Also, is it safe to run those 6 volts through my reciever? Or would I need to run the BEC straight to the steering servo?

Thanks.

Not an expert, but would think you most definately want to get the full voltage to it, or you're really just robbing yourself.

I have a TQ3 receiver, and a BEC programmed to 6.2v, and have no issue running it through there.

You are not getting full power. Set the BEC to 6 volts for better performance.

The rec. should have no problems with 6 volts. I run 6.8 volts through mine.

What radio gear?

I'll be running it with my DX3R and the rx it came with. 3100 I think is the model of the rx.

I think some have issues with voltage drop with Spektrum rec's and needed to run a cap or something. Do a search in here and you will probably find it. Either that or I am sure someone with firsthand info will chime in.

I think sometimes the rec. would shut down under load or something.

Thanks for the help guys.

I'll do some searches about voltage drop with spektrum stuff, but if anyone knows more about it, feel free to chime in.

i have a rooster 12t in my rally car and its built-in bec is rated to put out 6 v to the receiver, and i haven't had any problems with my spektrum receiver.

btw, what is this monster servo you have that's rated to 425 oz-in at 6 volts?!

You are not pulling big amperage throught the internal BEC though.

Your car is lightweight and you're not using a big servo so it's not the same.

And it's not always about the voltage but the amperage that the servo draws.

the spektrum rx will handle 6v no problem, you should turn your cc bec to output 6v. as with my setup i got my bec only powering my steering servo. the thing i did notice with my bec is now im getting shorter run times. i believe its cause my servo is getting a constant 6v now as from before, when power would drop from the esc to the rx. i used to get about 30-40 mins of run time now i get about 25 mins of run time

yeah, those are good points. i think it's only 1.5 amps so we're not really moving too many electrons. my li'l rally car's hardly lightweight though, those tb01's are pigs! i was thinking about finally making the switch to lipo and will get a bec anyway, but i'm really going to miss my power switch.
