Default Interference in snow?

Hey all,

I'm running two seperate Moped V16R ESCs (I know, spare me. They work fine otherwise) with a TQ3 and receiver on two different trucks. Both trucks run flawlessly when there is no snow. I could run them for a hundred feet or more. As soon as I put them out in the snow, they spit and sputter and act up. I can't get them more then 10 feet away from me before they lose signal or start acting up.

What's the deal? It can't be the snow getting into anything or melting and getting wet, because it happens immediately when I take them outside and set them down.
