Default LiPo temp?

What are normal temps for a 3s lipo when it's in use (running the truck)? How hot can it get before I should worry?
I know all the variables that play into batt. temps. I'm just looking for a rule of thumb here.

What kind of truck? I run 1000-2200MaH 2s and 3s lipo's in 1.9 and 2.2 crawlers... I've NEVER had a lipo even get warm... even when run to cut-off(10.0v cut-off setting) Now in my heli's... I keep them under 120 degrees if at all possible... If i push them i may see 130... i try not to push them Anyway from what I have read on lipo's 130+ degrees is the danger zone for cell life... over 150 and your risking going down in flames... that's in a heli of course

It's in my basher. (T3 w/OLD SCHOOL 427 motor and an LRP runner that is not long for this world:-P )
Right on! Thanks guys! I'm still new to LiPo's, didn't know if it should get warm at all. I would say it gets in 90*-100* range (have not checked w/my temp gun yet) so I should be fine.

I have some old runners myself in my son's T4's... you do know they DO NOT have lipo cut-off... I'd be just as worried(maybe more so) about OVER discharging the lipo's as I would temp. Buy a lipo alarm OR make darn sure you STOP as soon as you notice ANY power loss.

Deuce on Lipos not getting warm

I've never had mine get toasty at all, even right off a run in the middle of summer. If they do warm up, 120 is what I've read for a threshold...any hgher than that and there's potential for damage.

Coming off a 1C charge, the highest temp I've ever recorded (2S or 3S) was 79.0 Farenheit. Completely different guidelines apply here than that of NiMH.

My packs in my comp rigs never even get warm. My 1/8 brushless buggy and SC8 packs never get above 110 on the 4s packs and about 100 on the 6s packs

i have been wondering the same thing about heat and lipos especially after seeing trinitys new lipo warmer that maintains them at a constant 140 degrees

Default temp

Rc boat guys really push lipos to the limit and on there they say 150 and under is ok over 150 you should change your set up and they seem to like the 140 range for a well set up boat.

I asked Jay at Max Amps about the Trinity Lipo warmer, and Lipo temps in general, and their stance is that 140 is too much for a Lipo.

While it is true that they will perform a bit better if warmed (particularly in the winter if you're running outside) the gain that is obtained is marginal at best, regardless of the vehicle or application.

In my opinion, it's not worth the potential damage that can be caused to the pack, vehicle or pit area.

140f max, if you don't care about battery life. 120f max to keep em safe. I rarely see more than 105f in my comp rig with a 25c 1300 pack- dual motor rig.

Thanks guys. I checked it with my temp gun after a good hard run today:
102.6*
It was hotter today after that run than yesterday when I was feeling of it, so I don't think I have anything to worry about.
