| Trouble Shooting Rx?
How does one go about troubleshooting if there is an issue with the reciever? I just swapped my entire rig to a different chassis and when I hooked all the electronics up, nothing happened at all. I tried programming the ESC and it appears its not getting a signal. I am using a JR XP3i radio and the 3 channel JR reciever Rooster Crawler ESC Integy 45t JR R135 Rx Nothing works, including the steering servo. Can I test the Rx with a multimeter or something to see if its giving out a signal? I wanted to ask before trying it and risking frying something. I dont have any other Rx's to try nor do I have any other cars to try it in. Thanks much! Last edited by chevihemi; 03-27-2009 at 04:18 PM. |

is it possible that you are plugging the esc and servo in backward

I doubt it as I can only plug them in one way with the shape of the plugs. I am getting 6v out of the ESC so that apparently is working properly. Is there some way I can test the function of the Rx with a multimeter? |

still can't get this darn thing to work. Any way to test the reciever w/o having another rig? Is there measurable voltage coming off it when its working? Thanks! |

Don't look at the shape of the plugs, your signal wires on most receivers should go toward the inside of the case. Other than that your receiver should get power from the ESC in any plug unless you're using an external BEC or external receiver pack. Does the receiver not have any kind of indicator light on it? |

MCSCOTT- You still own a ZR2? I ended up selling mine a while back and never get to Zr2USA anymore. Nope, no lights or anything on there :( What color is the signal wire? White, Black, yellow, and black are the choices for my servo and ESC. Thanks!! |

The white and yellow wires are most likely your signal wires, and no I don't have a ZR2, never had one. Must be someone else I guess.

Ok, I thought you were someone else I guess. THanks for the info. If i hooked a multimeter up to the signal post and ground should i show any voltage when using the rx? |

| It should. Depending on your ESC's internal BEC, it should be around 5.1v or maybe in the 4 range.

Got it working just now. For some reason it won't work when I have my steering servo plugged in but if i plugged in a spare I had, everything worked great. Apparently my Servo is shot...is this common for it to kill everything else when it dies until its unplugged? Thanks for all the help! |
