I hate to be the guy that does choose either of the ones you are asking about but I would say a Holmes Hobbies cobalt 7T and a Tekin FXR esc. That's just my .02. I am running a Novak rooster crawler esc 55T motor combo and like it.

Of those 2 I would pick the Goat. That being said, IF I had $200 for the Goat, I would actually buy: -Tekin FX-R ESC ($100) -JP Customs Warrior II 45T Motor or Holmes Hobbies Handwound 45T Motor ($55) -Castle BEC ($20) -Castle Link for programming the BEC ($25) The Goat is smooth (I run it in my scaler), but it is limited by only being able to run on 2 Cell Lipo. The BEC in the Goat is OK...but if you go to a VERY powerful steering servo, it will get hot and possibly thermal. It really needs the EXTERNAL BEC in that case...and that would require the Castle Link to program as well...so add $45 to the cost of the Goat in that situation. My Goat was getting quite warm until I added the BEC. The FX-R is a brushed ESC, but it can handle 3 Cell Lipo. It also has a NICE brake. It is programmable via buttons or the optional PC Link. I run dual Sidewinders in my MOA rig...I wish that I knew about the Tekin FX-R before buying them. |
