Default upping the voltage

I run a Sidewinder a 7T puller, DX3R, CCBec and 7995TG, 9.6v NiMh.

Question, can I add another cell and run at 10.8v or am I going to start frying stuff??

12cell nimh is 14.4 volts. You can run a 3s Lipo if you wanted. But you asked about 10.9v which is only 9cell nimh.

Apologies, I use 2/3A cells at 1.2v each, currently using 8no. so 9.6v
If I use 10 cells obviously 12v. Just wondered if this would be ok?

Here's the spec sheet for your ESC:
http://www.castlecreations.com/products/sidewinder.html
You can run 12 cells NiMH or 3S lipo....and those specs are listed for a 4600 motor....

Thanks for the help, so when you talk about NiMh cells, you mean each cell is 1.2 volts.

Yes, each cell is 1.2V and if you run 12, then you would be at (12 x 1.2V = ) 14.4 Volts max.

Hey,

I've just built up a 10 cell pack, charged it up and I am ready to have a go.

Just a thought though, the overall voltage is now 14.4v, I was expecting to see around 12v, these cells must obviously hold more than 1.2v each. (marked up as 1.2v)

Therefore a 12 cell pack would be too much?.

(Still considering the switch to lipo)

The spec sheet from Castle says 12 nimh for a 4600 brushless motor. You are using a brushed motor. So you should be just fine with your 10 cell nihm pack. I run a revolver black brusless motor from holmes hobbies with a 3 cell lipo with no issuses.

Bump up the amps on the charging. When I was running an 8 cell nimh I was charging at 2 amps with no problem.
