You are not off base the batteries aren't up to the job and are dropping a lot under load - get some 25c and you should be fine

Right, 15C is not enough. I run a kokam 2s 5000mah 30c in my slash vxl, works great. 25c should be enough. If you have the choice, I would recommend you to buy 3s! I drove a friends slash with that, incredible... but depends on how much power you want/need.

yes 3s 30/60C 5000mah w/ brushless on a slash is very good. Just avoid a CC 5700. You will burn that up too fast. The velinion is supposed to be good though.

15c? might as well go with a nimh pack. w/ such a low c rating you're really not getting the full benefits of going lipo

I have a CC 5700KV and a 3S lipo, 25C, the only thing I burn up is the asphalt or dirt....runs a little warm but not to hot to touch...where do you get your info??? I have read alot of people that run the 5700KV on 3S and love it......

Alot of people don't know how to figure out the amp output of a lipo battery but it's really simple.

1000Mah by 10c = 10 amp output

simplified
1000 Mili amp hours = 1.0 amp hours
1 amp hour by 10c = 10 amp output

2000Mah by 10c = 20 amp output

3000Mah by 10c = 30 amp output

In my Slash and SC10 I have three Lipos, spec'ed like this.
MaxAmps 8000Mah, 3s, 20c = 160 amps
MaxAmps 8000Mah, 2s, 20c = 160 amps
SMC 5200Mah, 2s, 28c = 145 amps

Freak's TrueRC 5000mAh 11.1V 3S1P 15C Pack = 75 amps.
Not very good for a Vellineon motor, those motors are very hungry.
