Default Do CKRC Lipos Suck? ~ Discharge & Burst Rate Question

I've been doing some searching but haven't come up with a definitive answer.

I've been running the CKRC 3S lipos for a few months:

http://www.ckrccrawlers.com/shop/ind...oducts_id=1120

I have plenty of wheelspeed with this battery but I feel that it doesn't give me enough torque to pull out of a bind. Most of the time it won't even engage the slipper clutch.

Here's my current setup:

CKRC 3S Lipo (1500mah, 11.1v, 20C burst)
Cheapy Integy 55t
14t pinion, 87t spur
Castle Sidewinder ESC

Do I need a battery with a higher burst rate? Does the discharge rate come into play? I know the CKRC isn't exactly a high-end Lipo. Will a better Lipo get me more torque with the same wheelspeed? Or does it have to do with the cheap motor?

Anyway, if someone has input on discharge and burst rate or a good link they can point me too I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

I can not say from personal experience, but when I asked about them, from someone in the know, I was told that after a few months they take a dump.

I'm sure others can be more helpful. With more details as well.

Have you thought that maybe the motor sucks? As far as I am concerned my integy really sucks. Same batt with a promax 7t and the truck has enough power to get out of a bind even if this translates to damage in the drivetrain.

I'd get ahold of a good hand wound motor. HH, JP and etc in 35T-45T.

Their 2 cell 7.4 1500mah has been working fine for my novak 55. It is not noticably better than my 3300mah nimh but you cant expect that more torque from the same motor. the size and weight of the pack are awesome. Ill let youknow if i dives over the next months ill probaly get another lipo from a competitor for comparison. Also, where does everyone recyle there nimh and lipo? I hope no one is throwing them away.

I have been running them for about 5 months with a Holmes hobby 55t. I have great wheel speed and spur gear teeth stripping torque. I balance charge mine every time and put them on storage charge while i am at work for 28 days and when i get home they balance right back to normal and run great. About 45 minuetes of run time.

My batteries haven't really decreased in performance... I just haven't been that impressed from the beginning.

Maybe it's my motor that is lacking.

Anyone have any info on burst rate ratings?

Sounds like the motor is the culprit. I was running a pair of cheap Novak 55T motors on a lipo with the same specs as the CKRC 3 Cell Pack thru a Sidewinder. The motors would stall out....and felt like they were lacking torque. I then switched to a lipo with a higher burst rate, and the problem did not resolve itself. I then followed that up by buying a pair of JP CUSTOMS Warrior II motors (45T). These made all of the difference. I can now run the truck on EITHER pack and get far superior results than I was getting with the cheaper lathe motors.

Nathan...no they don't "suck"....if the one you have is the one i looked up, it has a 20c rating (means it will continuously deliver 20amps) could not find the Burst rate. You will find that Lipo's c ratings are increasing day by day (technology). And yes your motor prob isn't the strongest and might need to be rebuilt!! (PM me) Next battery look for a 25c or higher you'll notice a difference !! Good luck!!

Heck i love my 25c batts, but wish the were more!! Always!!!!

I thought that would get people's attention!

I actually bought a new Integy 55t but I think I just need to step up and get a better motor.
