| RC4WD Corefire Waterproof Brushless Combo
Here is a start to some more information on the Corefire system. I will try and update this thread as more information becomes available. First off this is an RC4WD item. It can be seen here. Clicky Me!! The first batch will not have the flames painted. Once we figure out how to do this better, we will have them painted...maybe. The ESC comes with a standard tamiya plug for the battery connection. The lead wires for the power to the ESC is 4" inches. The on/off switch is small but labeled. The wires on this is 4.5" inches. Receiver lead wire is 10.5 inches long. This is a standard receiver plug. The ESC box is machined aluminum. The flames are really cool. Here is the size. 1.88in/48mm length 1.22in/31mm wide .65in/16.5mm depth There are 4 small screws that hold the back plate onto the box. Once opened you can see that this is waterproofed. More info to come on this. We will be checking to make sure that the ESC doesn't get to hot. It has been tested already like this with no problems. However, there are many different setups out there and many factors that can create heat. The wires going out to the motor are 4" inches long and have 3.5mm bullet connectors. Here is some sizes of the motor. 1.38in/35.09mm OD 1.83in/46.62mm length including shaft 1.26in/32.12mm without shaft .53in/13.5mm shaft length There are 4 motor mounting holes. There is a small flat on the motor shaft for the pinion set screw. The wires coming off the motor to the ESC are 2.75 long with 3.5mm bullet connectors So far this is what I have. This week I will be bolting it into a rig and testing it out. Will get some video too. |

I'm digging those flames... How about instead of painted, they could be machined so that they are shiny? Shouldn't be too hard, probably less time consuming than painting them... Also, poopoo on the Tamiya connector! Last edited by Duuuuuuuude; 06-15-2009 at 12:19 AM. |

X2 on the flames and the connector. I like the painted flames and the waterproofing. Maybe anodize a case then machine the flames onto it and that way the color would be where you wanted it. The first tthings I want to know are, 1. can you hook two motors up to this to use on MOA. and 2. what are the kv on the motor. hopefully something low like 850 or 900

So I got a chance to plant this setup in my Trailfinder. Fit in the R2 tranny with no issue. Enough shaft for the gear to set perfectly onto the internal gear. This controller is a plug and play. There was no need for setup. If the motor is reversed, all you have to do it change two of the motor wires. The ESC does have an audio tone when turned on. This is the only time it tones. Ran the truck with a 2 cell lipo and 3 cell. 2 Cell. I was running a 13t pinion in the R2. Was pretty slow. Ran this for 20 min and no issue with heat. The box got up to 82 degrees. Its about 80 degrees outside today. So this doesn't worry me. 3 Cell was a bit faster, but not much. I ran this for a little longer. The box got warm, but nothing crazy. I went right from 2 cell to 3 cell not giving anything a chance to cool down. After 25 min of runtime it was only 101 degrees. Much like most brushless setups this has very little drag break. On small hills its okay, on big one's depending on the weight of your rig it will just roll down. There is also a reverse delay. Not a forward delay, but just reverse. There is a very small amount of cogging in really slow slow trigger control. Didn't really change in 2 or 3 cell. With the 3 cell setup it was really quick. In some cases to punchy. I can control this with the radio. However I really think this setup will like a tall gear and a 2 cell lipo. This will provide a good wheelspeed, and control. I think Rob has a video running the controller and motor in water. So maybe he will post it later. |

Here is a bench test video in water fully submerged just like the first proto no problems found. Dry as a bone inside the case. Motor and ESC still operational. I will be mounting this in something in a few days to make sure all is well.
