Default Initial Charge??

Just so you guys know, I DID SEARCH. Just couldn't get a straight answer. I just rec'd my new Rockbuster 1700mah battery. How should I charge it for the first time?? Should I go ahead and charge it even though the truck wont be running for a few days, of leave it as it is until RTR? I have a dynamite vision peak charger with a 2 or 4 amp setting. Another question is after running my truck, should I discharge the batteries completely and leave them down, or leave a little charge in 'em until next run and then discharge before recharging? Thanks. Tim

if you run it till it's dead then there's no need to discharge cause it's discharged already.if you don't run it all the way down then it should be discharged to .95v per cell.i never had cycled any of my packs including my race packs with out no ill affect.the only thing that ever happened doing this and only happened to a few was in the middle of a race down the straight way it would loose power momentaraly then come right pack-yes,this is strange but true.(and no,it was not a hung brush)

I'd wait until you're ready to run it. A warm pack delivers more current.

Or charge it, and repeak it when you're ready to roll.

(sigh) ok, so what is memory and how do you get it in you batteries? Is it from not completely discharging them, or just the opposite?? Man, I hate to ask such a dumbazz question, but I really don't know. BTW, after I read the last answer, I searched and saw no definitions or causes of memory.

memory is how the pack is charged and discharged-used.the pack will like to repeat his and willn't want to change if done differently.this is with nicads.so if you charge at a diff rate the pack may not hold a full charge as if you charge at the same as you've been doing.also don't leave a nicad pack charged and don't use it.it will remember that as well and not run as long next time.of coarse there are more tech answers for this but i'm keeping it simplified

no 4 amps is fine. fully charge then fully discharge and it will be fine for a long time.[keep in mind full discharge is around .9 volts per cell!]
