|  4800 ma Orion LiPo???
Orion making LiPoly's...... Anyone heard about this yet? Don't flame me, just a question.... At 125$ "street" price, doesn't sound like a bad value. Are they really that much better? Lighter? |

I seriously doubt that a 4000+mah Li-Po would be lighter then a similar Ni-Mh pack.

It should be much lighter, a 7.4V 2 cell 8000mah pack from Thunder Power is not much larger than a stick pack, and is still lighter than one. Have one at our LHS that I have compared. Personally haven't seen them, but I would look at some Thunder Power 4000mah batteries. They should be about $105. |

Your right.............my bad. I was thinking of some of the big-*** 14 + volt Li-Po's (some of them get pretty hefty). A 6 cell Ni-MH pack is close to 14oz, so lets say roughly 390grams. THP 4000mah Li-Po is (get this): 120g! The 4200mah pack is 189g, and only the 8000mah pack even starts to get close at 320g. Hmmmm....................maybe Li-Po's would be a good idea for a light weight rig........... |

Its going to be the next mod to my crawler. I am going to run a couple Thunder Power 1900mah packs, they fit perfectly into my crawler. Going to lose a bunch of runtime going from having two 3600mah NIMH packs, to two 1900mah li-po packs, but I think the weight reduction up higher on the crawler will be nice.

Really, the run time tade off might be more then worthwhile. I know I rarely make it through a full 3300mah pack with my Clod Crawler. Lighter weight and better performance for a 15 minute run instead of 30 minutes would be fine by me. Perhaps I need to get off my butt and finally get MRC to upgrade my 969 Superbrain charger to the new 977 Li-Po circutry............... Hmmmmmmmmmm. |

I might be able to get a 2 cell (7.4V) li-po 1050mAh and 2000mAh. the size is about 3" x 1.8" x 0.6". The weight is not that heavy but I can get it weighted when I visit my LHS tomorrow. Let me know what you guys think if I can use it in my 16"WB stick clod with 40s Moab,Tekin Rebel 2, 55T motor and 13T pinion. Thanks |

go for the 2000 mah pack. the smaller one wont take the loads of two lathe motors. Lipo is the biggest tech change in our hobby right now. if you want better performance, get rid of sub-c cells. they are heavy and dont have as much capacity as equivilent lipo. the big drawback is the $$$. It will cost me $400 just to put lipo in a fast basher (since i need 90 plus amps continuous discharge) |

I managed to measure and weight the cells... 2000mAh Li-Po, 7.4V, Size 90mm x 40mm x 12mm, Weight: 100grams 1050mAh Li-Po, 7.4V, Size 66mm x 38mm x 12mm, Weight: 65gams |

Run the 2000's if not bigger in a clod, the dual motors are going to over amp the smaller Li-Po's which is going to kill them.

Yes....Thunderpower has taps now and offer their own balancers (true balancers) and chargers.
