| 7.2 battery with 8.5V??
I charged a used NiCd battery with a dynamite charger and ran it for about 1.25 hours. I decided to test voltage and it was at 8.05v. While I was running that battery, I charged a brand new 7.2v and also tested it. It came out to 8.5 volts. This can't be normal, can it? So far i have about 2 hours runtime on the old battery and am still showing 7.5 volts. Could the charger be charging it as a 7 cell batery?? Will my batteries get fried from doing this? I'll tell ya, it does run great, though.

Gotta check voltages under a load (drawing current) Even a dead battery will show 90% full charge voltage w/o a load on it. batteries also tend to have a pretty flat discharge voltage and then fall off. If your still on the flat part a almost dead battery will still show most of it's voltage. |

Them are normal voltages for a six cell pack. As some packs get older, the voltage goes up as the internal resistance increases. Had a couple nicad's packs hit 10.5 volts right after a charge.

That is very normal. I would go as far to say that if it only went to 7.2 you would have a screwed up pack. Nothing is wrong with your pack or charger.
