| best brushless for drag brake.
which brushless setup provide the best drag brake? i have the Ezrun 35T witch is worthless on the drag brake, it doesn't hold the truck at all on a incline.

A brushless motor will have very MINIMAL drag internally.....a brushed motor is what you want. Look for a motor with stronger magnets (Cobalt Puller)....

If you want to go brushless, you'll need a sensored setup with hill-hold function - you'll only find this on crawler-specific sensored systems like the Novak Goat.

With the ESC switched off (no drag/hill-hold brakes, just motor/transmission resistance), it would hold on a 10 degree incline. With the ESC on, and the brakes set on "2" (out of 9 levels), it would hold on a 15 degree slope. With the ESC set to "9", it was still holding on a 45 degree slope, although the tyres were starting to slide on the varnished wood! Seems pretty effective to me. | |

I ran a Mamba Max, CC BEC, 3S lipo and Holmes Hobbies 1000KV Crawl Master all of last season in my 2.2 comp rig. It held awesome! With the drag brake set to 100% it held on an incline or decline. My gearing was 96 tooth spur and 18 tooth pinion on a Axial transmission. The only brushed motor I have seen with comparable hold is a Holmes Cobalt motor in my experience. Now I hear that the Tekin FXR with a Hand Wound motor will hold excellent but since I do not own one I cannot verify personally. |
