Default Quick lipo question

Is it bad to use a lipo and drain it maybe half way then recharge it again?

No. LiPos don't suffer from "memory effect" like NiMH.

If you use a decent balance charger, you won't have any problems charging as often as you like.
The only things to watch are drawing too much current - pack should never get more than mildly warm - and over-discharging - your ESC's cutoff should prevent this.
