Default Im in over my head!!! i jacked sumthin up!

Okay.

so after our comp sat i was bashing around, and suddenly lost throttle.

at a glance, i noticed the lil capacitor on my FXR, had broken off on one side.

sooooo i went home and pulled a stoner move. the capacitor is supposed to be soldered on the battery wires, and i soldered it to the motor wires....

not realizing i had it wrong, i set everything up, and my BEC didnt turn on, just sits there, and the FXR doesnt link up.

so i went out and bought a new BEC, put it togeather, same problem.

Realized that i had my capicitor wired in the wrong spot, re-soldered everything correctly, same issue.

NOW, if i have the BEC wired like in the castle diagram, w/ the ESC pos wire removed, nothing works. ESC still sits there searching for a signal.

HOWEVER, if i plug in the red pos wire as well, everything works. bec turns on, no glitching, truck works fine.

red wire removed, nuthing works.....

if i completly remove the BEC everything works.

i have no idea WTF is going on, so the truck is shelved....

i assume ive jacked up the ESC, the Batt/bind plug in my rx, or the lil capacitor itself?

dear god i need help lol

Sounds like the esc is working fine if it works with the red wire hooked up, sounds like you might have fried the bec again! Try hooking up the BEC to your little Duratrax? car and see if it works

Well you just screwwed the pooch huh! Don't really know how to help you, but I think this may work. since your esc wired the castle way is what seems to be screwing up things, try wiring it a different way. Splice the pos. and neg. wires coming out of the esc into the pos. and neg. wires of the steering servo and run only the signal wire of the servo to the reciever. that way the bec only powers the servo. then you can leave the red wire from the esc in the reciever (how it's all working now) and the esc's bec will power the reciever and the dig servo no prob but you will always have full servo strength. That is how I had to set up my rig with the sidewinder and that how I run it now with my mamba max. It should fix your problem, ANYONE ELSE SMARTER THAN ME ON THIS ISSUE PLEASE POST UP A BETTER SOLUTION IF YOU KNOW ONE.
Good luck bro!

Sounds like the ESC is powering up BEC when plugged in. You have it all wired up the way it was before when it worked, right?

through the process of ellimination, it could only be the rx plug, or the capacitor....

ima gonna do like sicax said, and elliminate the batt/bind plug from the system and just see what happens....

now, should i go home and wire the BEC directly to the servo and it works, im still perturbed.

WTF exactly is causing this?

How to i determine WTF is wrong? a multi meter?

why did it work before and not now?

and why not just plug in the red wire and leave it as is?

imagonna go nuts

I think you might have released the stored energy from the capacitor into the first BEC, and probably the second BEC too with it wired the wrong way.

Also, if the BEC is bad, when the red ESC->RX wire is connected, the ESC lets power flow from the battery to the RX, and subsequently the Servos, etc. When you remove this wire (like in the diagram below) it breaks the circuit and stops the flow. With no power to the RX, the radio can't find it, and that's why it's searching for a signal.

If you have a multimeter, try to check the voltage coming out of the BEC with it wired the way it is below. If it's Zero, it's fried, if it's 5 or 6 (depending on what it was set with the castle link) then the BEC is fine and then something else is messed up.

You might as well just buy a new Tekin, BEC, heck the whole rig, and I'll make sure it's "properly" disposed of j/k.

BTW... didn't we tie at the last comp? If I only had a few more seconds on course 1, I would have been in the top five... damn...

Dang, man.

So, just to make sure I learned something here: the two BECs toasted because of the capacitor that was re-soldered to the wrong spot?

yeppers.

there are 4 posts on the FXR, batt +/-, and motor +/-

the capacator is supposed to be on the batt posts, i put it on the motors, and didnt realize my mistake until i fried 2 BEC's

lol

But the truck works fine w/o a bec, and a homie is gonna trade me a used one for both my fried ones.

to ship them back to castle with 2 mambas, a sidewinder and another BEC.

so after shipping he gets 2 for one, and i get instant gratification
