Default puller 500 & 3s

Hi

Just wondering would 21.5 amps be enough to run a puller 500 on 3s or even if that would be enough to run it on 2s? Also if I did run it on 3s would an axial tranny with 93t spur and 12t pinion offer enough reduction?

Thanks
Kieren

I am running mine on a 25c 7.4 and it heats mine up pretty fast! Gets to hot to touch after about 5 mins. It is on a WK tranny with 14/96 gearing. Been afraid to run it on 3 cells.

Sorry mate I am a bit confused. How many mah is your lipo? Does your puller or your lipo get hot?

Thanks

Probably the Puller. Mine gets pretty warm on 2S and it's fast enough at 2000 kv that I don't see the need to use 3S.

Battery is only 1300mah rated 25c. It's the motor that runs hot.

I'm running 93/10 my 500 will cook a 20c 3cell if ya run it hard. The kids were playing tag with it the other day and both the battery (1500 3c) and motor were too hot to touch. Not a problem in normal crawling. It was better with r2d & 9t. I've got a 9 tooth pinion to put my axial trans. I do love that little puller but it likes gears, volts and amps. Geared the way it is it will outrun my moa 45t on 3s, 13t.

MIght want to be careful running bigger tooth pinions on a r2 tranny, it will shred the gears fast.

that's how I melted my R2HD- 3s 3000mAh LiPo, 16t pinion and the Cobalt 500. When I nailed the throttle, the whole truck pitched sideways and lifted the right front tire about 3" into the air! After 5 minutes, the tranny was smoking hot and the motor was really warm, it didn't burn my skin, but I couldn't touch it for very long.

I then ran the same LiPo in my comp rig with the Cobalt 500, AX-10 tranny with 12T pinion and 89T spur gear. It ran the entire comp without getting hot. After the comp, the guy in the club w/ the berg wanted to drag race, so we did. I beat him both times!

I think the Cobalt with live fine w/ a AX-10 tranny, but it will melt a rc4wd tranny without much effort.

So yes i was right, steer clear of a puller on 3s with rc4wd tranny, it wont last

I run mine on 3s and love it. Yeah, it gets warm, but with that much torque you don't really have to push it very hard. As far as wheelspeed goes, check my avatar.

That avatar is awesome I think I want a puller 500!!! Hmm maxamps site now states that the c rating on the 860 mah batts are 50c so that is 43 amps should be plenty enough for these little beasts. So 12t pinion and 93 spur should be fine. I think I might stick to 2s as I only want to pay $40 for a batt not $120. Maybe Mr Holmes would be kind enough to chime in on amp draw for 2s. Can you only get them in that disgusting blue? or can you get them in black? Might have to go buy a rattle can of black

Thanks

That was just showing how I mounted it on my MRC.
Thought you were talking about the battery being black!
My motor is blue also.

I ran a 500 in my ax10 for quite a while until I went to moa. I still run them on my hr axles. Ran 1500 mah 3s on both cars. The ax I had geared 11 & 91 I think. Motor got pretty warm but not super hot. A 10 tooth would've been about right I think. & dont worry you can gear it as low as you can & you'll still have plenty of wheelspeed
