Default Controller modding question....

Is it possible to take any controller with a spare channel and put in a 3 pos. switch and trim pots where a 2 pos. switch was? Basically the same thing as modding a tq3...

Not sure all radios are compatible with this mod, Might help aid in assistance if you mention what type your planning on modding incase someone might have one and done it already

If you're looking to go to 2.4 anyway, just get a dx3r no modding required

I can't think of an easy way to do this. You can turn a proportional channel (one with a pot) into a 2- or 3-way switch, but not a simple on/off channel, from what I've seen.
It's possible that the switched channel is actually proportional - I'd be interested to know!

There's an easy way to find out if your channel has the potential to be "proportional" - take the 2 wires off the switch and connect one to the centre terminal of a pot (preferably a 5K linear pot, but it isn't critical), the other wire to one of the outside terminals.
Connect a servo to the Rx, switch everything on, and see if the servo moves smoothly as you turn the pot.
If it doesn't move at all, or jumps suddenly, you can't mod it.
If it moves smoothly, you can.
