| CKRC Lipo
K, before I new what I was doing I picked up the 1500 mAh 3s lipo from CKRC. I ran it in my slash with a brushless motor...now I have charged it with a balancer every time I charged it...never charged it warm and never ran it till it died...Mamba Max esc set to 3S and soon as it cut out..I stopped running it... now the problem. I picked up another MM from a member here and installed it in my crawler (35T)..I put the lipo (fully charged) and it ran approx 5 minuets then dumped on me, same settings and all....the time before I ran it in my slash it ran hot, but the esc never shut down and it wasn't so hot that you couldn't hold on to it....I know its a cheap battery, but how do you test it to see if it still good. The balancer still readys that all the cells are matched...I also know that my 5700kV motor was WAY to big for this little battery...but it was fun while it lasted...so is this where I learn that the 20C isn't near the snuff I need for the 5700kV in my slash...and I toasted it..that's why it won't hold a charge under load???? |

You f'd up by putting it in your Slash. Not enough capacity for something that heavy and fast. I tried one of my 2200mah 20c's I bought for my crawler in my Slash and it puffed it first time out. btw: that 1500 from CKRC may not be a 1500. Mine turned out to be a 1300. |

X2 There is a reason that people run these 5000mah packs in there slash. Just mark it as lesson learned. :-P You have to remember that a high C rating doesnt mean crap without a good mah rating.

Here's the math. Take the mah rating, move the decimal point over three places (5000 becomes 5.000), then times that by the c rating. That will give you the available amount of amps that that battery is capable of providing. So, our 1300mah 20c CKRC batteries are capable of safely supplying 26 amps. Not much, and that is why you killed it when you put it into your Slash. To be safe, if you plan to use lipo to power the Slash, find out how many amps the esc will carry, then get a battery to match or exceed that number. A Sidewinder (which I have in both my crawler and Slash) is good for 75. You'd want to use a 5000mah 15c to hit the 75a mark.

For my Slash....I have a Mamba Max...so to meet or exceed the 100A I need a min of 3000 at 35C, or 3300 at 30C, or 4000 at 25C.....right???? for my crawler I also have a Mamba Max..and a 35T motor, Do I still want to stay up around the 100A...or what's the lowest I would want to go and still get good performance... thanks for the clarification.... would you calc the amp draw of one batter then double it? So, 0.8 x 15 = 12 but x2 would be 24amps? Realizing this is not ideal, but would up with some heli lipos in trade a while back and they fit well as a saddle. thx

Yes, but the C rating stays the same. Some people think when you parallel, that it doubles the C too. This is not the case. And as far as the original question, Dude answered it right, you toasted that pack dude! Big no no. I would run a minimum of about a 3500-4000 20c pack at the very least.
