Very little details here, but it is never a bad option to have one. It does take a lot of stress of the ESC, so I would do it

Most speed controllers put out a lower voltage (4.8- 5.2 volts) you can set up an external BEC to have 6 volts and the servo is a lot stronger and faster. I just put on an CCBEC this weekend and it really woke up my truck, But my speed controller only is capable of 0.5 amps.

A bec is never a bad idea. ive used the Castle Creations bec for ahwile now and ive never had any trouble with it. you just need the castle links to program it. Yes, it's programable from 4.8 - 9V it comes stock 5.1 volts out of the package. Heres some specs on it CC Bec hope that helped |

I asked this same question, as the rooster crawler has a built in 5amp BEC, which would only be driving two servos (645MGs in my case) - but it was still recommended. I figured 'better safe than sorry', and ordered one from Holmes, preset to 6v (otherwise you need a castle link to program it) It was much simpler to wire than I thought - especially as I was swapping the tamiya connector on the rooster over for deans anyway. |
