Default Any particular reason NOT to run the RX8?

Tekin RX8. Any reason not to run it, besides the giant size? I want brushless, and might as well get a giant esc. I may go 1/8 electric, or other large scale electric one day. Also thinking about tekin redline 17.5 sensored motor for the crawler, for now. Might eventually end up in a drifter too.

You'd have to modify the chassis, reinforce the motor plate and drill new mounting holes (if there's enough room) shim up the tranny and it still might not work. In some rigs, it would be impossible to use it at all.

It has a 5mm shaft so you'd have a hard time finding 48p pinions that would fit. It's absolute overkill in a crawler since most crawlers draw maybe 10-15 amps when fully locked up...

The RS would be the way to go if you plan on using it for double duty. If using it for crawler duty only, it too, is overkill. Tekin stuff is very nice, but I don't think it has enough advantages over the Novak Goat to justify the extra $100. But if you're gonna use it in something else, then it's probably worth it since the Novak Goat system won't work too hot in a drifter I don't think.

So you want to use a 1/8th size ESC but still use a 1/10 motor?

btw, nice arfcom boltface logo

Good catch... JUST the ESC is what I think he was getting at... all that typing for nothing!

Ah yes, the tekin redline series might include the 1/8 motors, but I have a 21.5 tekin can (1/10) on the way. I assumed they didn't have a 17.5 1/8 can, they probably do, should have mentioned the 1/10 thing right off.

I had considered trying to shoehorn a 1/8 motor in, they are much bigger and would require too much modification just to fit it in the chassis, but the shaft is 5mm and pinions are mod1 or whatever.

I ended up ordering it. I can use the esc on other cars too. I assume the sensor cables are all the same, 1/8, 1/10 look about the same size cable. I was looking at a smaller esc, but by the time I added a BEC I was up to the price of the RX8, and stuck with an esc that didn't do much, this one does quite a bit more.

Now I just need a bigger lipo charger, mine will only do 4s @ 5A *for a 1/8 buggy* the crawler will be 7.4 or 11.1 lipo.

Yeah I snagged this from google images, but I am on arfcom too.
